The HNWI client from an EU member country about to retire and stay in Malaysia approached us to find a long-term residency solution for him. Though he liked his lifestyle in Malaysia, he did not want to become a tax resident by staying more than 182 days there. We shortlisted several countries as viable solutions. After consideration, Costa Rica was opted for by the client for its sophistication, low tax, security, and good healthcare, to reside and enjoy his retirement.
